EUR/USD
Current level – 1.0509
Wednesday failed to give a clear direction for the movement of the single European currency. The day started with low liquidity, which increased around the opening of the European session with the accumulation of positive data in the macroeconomic calendar for the state of the economy in Europe. This gave strength to the bulls and they managed to reach 1.0549. However, the level played the role of resistance and the day ended around 1.0509. Today’s headliner for EUR/USD is expected to be the speech of Christine Lagarde, president of the ECB, at 12:00 (GMT). Whether the euro will continue to appreciate against the greenback today, or the correction will deepen depends on the s contents of the mentioned speech and the initial jobless claims for the U.S. at 13:30 GMT
USD/JPY
Current level – 136.57
The Ninja had a volatile day yesterday as the pair moved higher in the early hours of the day and managed to reach the key 137.83 level shortly after the opening of the European session. However, these levels played the role of resistance and the bears took control of USD/JPY. They even took the pair below yesterday’s closing price, but yet again support was found at 136.18 and the pair ended the day around 136.57. Today, the macroeconomic data, accumulated during the evening, is expected to give direction to the currency pair. It remains to be seen if the growth will continue or if this is just a correction in a strong downtrend.
GBP/USD
Current level – 1.2194
The Cable experienced increased volatility on Wednesday. The first few hours of the day were quiet, followed by a drop in the dollar, which the bulls exploited, and the GBP/USD reached a daily high of 1.2232. However, this is a level that has halted the currency pair’s upward movement twice this week. The strength or weakness of the dollar is expected to drive today’s movements, which we will see after analysing the U.S. jobless claims data at 13:30 (GMT).
Gold price resumes the bullish bias
Gold price provided clear positive trades to attempt to return to the bullish channel that appears on the chart, waiting to get positive momentum that assists to push the price to surpass 1790.00 and ease the mission of heading towards 1810.00 as a next positive station, noting that breaching this level will extend the bullish wave to reach 1850.00 areas.
Therefore, we will continue to suggest the bullish trend unless breaking 1764.40 and holding below it.
The expected trading range for today is between 1770.00 support and 1810.00 resistance.
